All Camera Shots Angles and Movement In Film | EP-20 | Camera Shots For Filmmaking With Examples

First, let's discuss different camera shots

1. Extreme close up – It captures the micro detailing of any subject, it can be just your eye, fingers, etc.

2. Close up – If we are featuring any person then full face is the close-up shot, it is important when we have to show facial expression etc.

3. Medium shot – It is something above the waist and becomes important when you want to show body language or gestures of person.

4. Long shot – Long shot is useful when you want to show both character and premise both in your frame. When you want to add action and location along with the subject.

5. Extreme long shot – when you think that your location becomes more prominent for the story then we give more importance to the premise or location with respect to character. It is mostly used as an opening shot of the film or sequence.

Single, two shot, three-shot. etc. – Number of people in frame decide this. You can combine this with a CU, MS or LS.

POV – as if the audience were the subject.

Now let's see different Camera Angles

1. Eye-level – Here character directly looks to the camera.

2. Low angle – Here camera points up from down. It allows the character to be dominating in the frame.

3. High angle – camera points down from a higher angle. It makes the character seem powerless:

4. Bird’s eye view – Its live viewpoint of bird from the top, it is used when you want to show the topography of a location. Aerial shots fall under this.

5. Dutch – Dutch angle is a tilted angle commonly observed in Music videos or action sequences.
